Modeling and Characterizing Service Interference in Dynamic Infrastructures

نویسندگان

چکیده

Performance interference can occur when various services are executed over the same physical infrastructure in a cloud system. This lead to performance degradation compared execution of isolation. work proposes Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA)-based model estimate across containers, caused by use CPU, memory and IO number co-hosted applications. The approach provides resource characterization through human comprehensible indices expressed as time series, so entire lifetime service be analyzed. Our experiments, based on combination real with different profiles Docker suggest that our accurately predict overall time, for combinations. used designer identify phases , during life-cycle service, likely greater degree interference, ensure only complementary hosted machine. Interference-awareness this kind will enable more intelligent management scheduling systems, may dynamically modify decisions.

Dynamic Service Placement in Shared Service Hosting Infrastructures

Large-scale shared service hosting environments, such as content delivery networks and cloud computing, have gained much popularity in recent years. A key challenge faced by service owners in these environments is to determine the locations where service instances (e.g. virtual machine instances) should be placed such that the hosting cost is minimized while key performance requirements (e.g. r...

Dynamic contracting in infrastructures

Contracting for infrastructural maintenance has changed significantly over the last couple of decades from the wellknown ’regulatory’ contract towards more innovative and flexible agreements. Indeed these newer methods offer promising benefits: increased flexibility, better performance and consequently less cost. Nonetheless, these benefits are accompanied by higher levels of uncertainty and mo...

Modeling and Managing Risk in Billing Infrastructures

This paper discusses risk modeling and risk management in information and communications technology (ICT) systems for which the attack impact distribution is heavy tailed (e.g., power law distribution) and the average risk is unbounded. Systems with these properties include billing infrastructures used to charge customers for services they access. Attacks against billing infrastructures can be ...

Characterizing Interference in Wireless Mesh Networks

of thesis entitled: Characterizing Interference in Wireless Mesh Networks Submitted by HUI, Ka Hung for the degree of Master of Philosophy at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in August 2007 The relationship between interference and capacity has been a main focus in the study of wireless mesh networks. To find out the capacity of a wireless mesh network, we have to accurately model the interf...
